Follow the step by step instructions below to disable proxy server settings in Internet Explorer 8.x:
Open Internet Explorer.
Select Tools and then Internet Options.
Open the Connections tab and click the LAN Settings button.
If you use a Dial-up or Virtual Private Network connection, select the necessary connection and click the Settings button.
In the 'Proxy Server' area, uncheck the Use a proxy server for this connection or Use a proxy server for your LAN option.
Click OK.
