Proxy Way

ProxyWay Proxy Finder searches for HTTP proxy lists, HTTPS proxy lists and SOCKS (SOCKS4, SOCKS4A, SOCKS5, SOCKS5 with Authentication) proxies lists on the Internet. Just specify proxy web site URL(s) where proxy lists are located and Proxy Finder will automatically find proxy server information. Proxy/proxies are added to the program proxy list where they can be checked for proxy state, proxy speed, proxy location and proxy anonymity using ProxyWay Proxy Checker module.

Proxy Finder module main features:

How to configure browsers/applications to work through ProxyWay

ProxyWay, ProxyWay Pro and ProxyWay Extra support a wide variety of web applications and most types of Internet protocols allowing users to surf the web. Before using ProxyWay, ProxyWay Pro and ProxyWay Extra, you need to modify a few configuration entries in your browser/application.

Web browsers proxy setup (Browser proxy configuration to use ProxyWay)

How to set up proxy settings in Internet Explorer

Double-click the ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra tray icon or right-click the ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra tray icon and select the open main window item.

Click the Proxy button in the toolbar.

Select Proxy => Connections and open the Connections folder.

Close all instances of your browser.

Select the Internet Explorer tab.

Choose the connection(s) you want to configure to work using ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra. ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra automatically detects all IE connections each time it starts up. If there are any changes in IE connections while ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra is running, use the Detect button to refresh the list of connections.

Click the Enable redirect proxy button to configure selected connection(s).

Configure Internet Explorer to work directly without using ProxyWay (disable proxy settings):

Click the Proxy button in the toolbar.

Select Proxy => Connections and open the Connections folder.

Close all instances of your browser.

Select the Internet Explorer tab.

Choose the connection(s). ProxyWay automatically detects all IE connections each time it starts up. If there are any changes in IE connections while ProxyWay is running, use the Detect button to refresh the list of connections.

Click the Disable redirect proxy button to configure the selected connection(s) to work directly (not through ProxyWay).

How to setup proxy servers settings in Internet Explorer 7.0
To setup proxy server settings or change proxy server settings:
• Select Tools => Internet Options.
• Select the Connections tab.
• If you are using LAN, click "LAN Settings" button. If you are using Dial-up or Virtual Private Network connection, select necessary connection and click "Settings" button.
• Make sure the "automatically detect proxy settings" and "use a proxy automatic configuration script" options are not checked.
• In the "Proxy Server" area, click the check box next to Use a proxy server for this connection.
• If you do not want the proxy server to be used when you connect to a computer on the local network, enable "bypass proxy server for local addresses".
• Click the "Advanced" button and enter proxy server address and proxy port.
Note: to surf through ProxyWay, set proxy server address - 127.0.0.1, proxy server port - 81 (ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra Redirect Service port by default).
• Click OK.

How to disable proxy settings (remove proxy settings) in Internet Explorer (IE) 7.0
To disable proxy server:
• Select Tools => Internet Options.
• Select the Connections tab.
• If you are using LAN, click "LAN Settings" button. If you are using Dial-up or Virtual Private Network connection, select necessary connection and click "Settings" button.
• In the "Proxy Server" area, remove the check mark next to Use a proxy server for ....

How to setup Internet Explorer 6.x proxy settings

Set proxy settings - Email software

Outlook Express

Outlook Express doesn't have proxy settings. So, you need additional software to configure Outlook Express to work through ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra. You can use freeware called SocksCap.

How configure Outlook Express to work through ProxyWay:

Download SocksCap free of charge.
Run SocksCap.
Select File -> Settings in SocksCap menu.
Enter 127.0.0.1 in the "SOCKS Server" and 81 in "Port" field.
Select SOCKS Version 4 or SOCKS Version 5 depending on the type of service you created in ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra. If you have SOCKS5 service in ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra, select "SOCKS Version 5". If you have SOCKS4 service in ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra, select "SOCKS Version 4".
Click OK.
Now you should add Outlook Express to SocksCap (create Outlook Express profile):
Select File -> New in the SocksCap menu and using "Browse" button select Outlook Express

or simply click and drag Outlook Express shortcut icon into the SocksCap window and select "New application profile" (the profile name and working directory will be filled in automatically) and click "OK".

Now you should run Outlook Express from SocksCap and it will work through ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra.

Note: make sure ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra is configured in a proper way and running. See ProxyWay Extra Guide, ProxyWay Pro Guide or ProxyWay Guide

Mozilla Thunderbird - configure proxy settings

To setup proxy server settings:

Select Tools -> Options
Select Advanced
Open "Offline and Connections Settings"
Click the "connection Settings" button next to "Set up Proxies for accessing the Internet".

Put the radio batton for "Manual proxy configuration"
In the necessary proxy field(s), set Proxy Server address and proxy configuration port.
Note: to surf through ProxyWay, set Host - 127.0.0.1, port - 81 (ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra Redirect Service port by default). E.g. if in ProxyWay you created HTTP service, enter 127.0.0.1 in HTTP proxy field.
Click OK

Other software setup

mIRC - set proxy settings / change proxy settings

To set proxy server or change proxy server:

Select Tools => Options.
"mIRC options" window appears.
Open Connect -> Firewall.
In Protocols combo box select SOCKS4, SOCKS5 or Proxy (for HTTP, HTTPS) depending on the type of proxy service you created in ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra. E.g. if you created HTTP service in ProxyWay/ProxyWay, you should select "Proxy".
Set Host - 127.0.0.1, port - 81 (ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra Redirect Service port by default).
Click "OK"

Emule - manual proxy configuration

To setup proxy server settings / change proxy sever settings:

Open the Options menu.
Select Proxy tab.
Put the check mark for "Enable proxy"
In Proxy type choose the Socks 4, Socks 4a, Socks 5, HTTP 1.1.
In "Proxy host" field enter 127.0.0.1 and in "Proxy port" field enter 81.
Click OK.

Kazaa - proxy server configuration

To set up proxy server settings / change proxy settings:
• Select Tools => Options.
• "Kaaza options" window appears.
• Open the "Firewall" tab.

• Select "Use SOCKS5 Proxy Server".
• Set 127.0.0.1 in "Hostname" field and 81 in "Port" field.
• Click "OK"

AOL Instant Messenger - manual proxy server configuration

To configure proxy settings (change proxy settings):

Start up AOL Instant Messenger.
Click on the "Setup" button.
Click the "Connections" button.
In the connection preferences window click on the "Connect using Proxy" box.
In the necessary proxy field(s), set Host=127.0.0.1, port= 81(by default).
Select the protocol type of proxies you will use.
Click OK

Start up AOL Instant Messenger.
Select My AIM|Edit options| Edit Preferences.
Select Sign on/off category.
Click the "Connections" button.
In the connection preferences window click on the "Connect using Proxy" box.
In the necessary proxy field(s), set Host=127.0.0.1, port=ProxyWay Redirect Service port * = 81(by default)**.
Select the protocol type of proxies you will use.
Click OK

To configure proxy settings in Yahoo Messenger:
• Run Yahoo Messenger and open the Login menu.
• Select Preferences, then click on the 'Connection' tab.
• Set proxy settings: click on the 'Use proxies' and enter your proxy server address and port number.

My application doesn't have proxy settings. How can I configure it to work through ProxyWay?
Using SocksCap you can configure any application that doesn't support proxies (has no proxy settings) to work through ProxyWay:
If your application doesn't have proxy settings, you need special software to configure your application to work through ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra. You can use freeware called SocksCap.

How configure application to work through ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra:

Download SocksCap free of charge.

Run SocksCap.

Select File -> Settings in SocksCap menu.

Enter 127.0.0.1 in the "SOCKS Server" and 81 in "Port" field.

Select SOCKS Version 4 or SOCKS Version 5 depending on the type of service you created in ProxyWay/ProxyWayPro. If you have SOCKS5 service in ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra, select "SOCKS Version 5". If you have SOCKS4 service in ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra, select "SOCKS Version 4".

Click OK.

Now you should add your application to SocksCap (create application profile):
Select File -> New in the SocksCap menu and using "Browse" button select your application

or simply click and drag your application shortcut icon into the SocksCap window and select "New application profile" (the profile name and working directory will be filled in automatically) and click "OK".

Now you should run your application from SocksCap and it will work through ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra.

Note: make sure ProxyWay/ProxyWay Pro/ProxyWay Extra is configured in a proper way and running. See ProxyWay Pro Guide or ProxyWay Guide
